Students working collaboratively to identify the story elements within "Neighbors".. a chapter within Poppleton... Our class took their time to decide who would complete each part.. each student took their time to write carefully and neatly.. they asked each other how to spell certain words.. and worked to make sure each person had room to write.. Our class works extremely hard to have a kind and considerate school family!!!

Counting Collections
Counting Collections
Students are learning to work in groups to identify various ways to count a collection. Counting collections can be one collection of beans, cereal, cotton balls or Q-tips for example. You may find there are 987 pieces of cereal in your collection. Your child will place them into groups of ones, fives, or tens for example that will best help them count their collection most efficiently. Then, they will create a number sentence to show their thinking. We encourage you and your child to count a collection at home once a week. As a class, we are counting a collection on Friday. One student will be taking home the collection journal each week. They will fill the jar with a collection of their choice. Then, we will count it as a class determining the most efficient way to count it.
